Increasing prices of TDI's

I'm looking around for a MK4 TDI Golf and can't believe the price of these things! I know VW isn't bringing anymore to N.A for '07 & '08, but I didn't think it would alter the price of a 5 year old used car so much. Anyone know if I can bring one into Canada from the U.S since they seem to be cheaper down there? What's involved?

Yup TDI's are expensive... VW really needs to get their a$$ in gear to get the new TDI's 50 state legal so they can start selling again!

VW turbo diesel resale prices have always been brutal. TDI's are unlikely to drop much in price, due to reliability, and mileage. Especially since the gas prices are not going to get any better any time soon.

How are the TDIs for reliability?
I've read that the engines run forever, but everything else breaks, like power windows, little switches.
Also they cost an arm and a leg for maintenance, $1000 for a t-belt change and they have to be changed every 60k with auto tranny and 70k with manuals?

I got a 2000 TDI Jetta for sale. 200km asking $7900 safety and emission. Also a 2002 TDI is available if interested. The motors do run forever but yes everything around them do break often.

its due to the location it was built in. im not sure if the tdi's were built in mexico, but the mexico built car's have numerous problems.
