I have A Idea On paper Would it Work

OK i bought this 1986 VW Cabrio 4cyl 5spd. and i found a used 3.2 V-6 R32 engine with a 6spd. to put those together also i found a ford hot rod rear drive axle and was wondering if it could be possible for it to be rear wheel drive. thanks

if it works i might sell the ae86

The R32 motor uses a FWD based system however when the front wheels lose traction, it switches to AWD.

The R32 VR6 tranny has a built in differential, PLUS it has driveshafts on the other side.

Personally, Id make it a AWD car. Find a R32 driveline for like 10G's and swap it in.

If you get the euro Audi S3 driveline, it would bolt up but there is some customizing.

i will think about it but the cabrio is a fwd so make it ff or rear drive but its a very small space for a 4wd.

Personally, Id slap a 1.8T in there, and chip it. The car is so light it will fly like its on wings..

Depends on mileage. You can pick them up from anywhere between 1500$-5000$..Mileage goes from anywhere between 20xxxKM to 200xxxKM.

Heres a motor a guy I know is selling;

1.8T Swap + 5 speed tranny has full polished piping, FMIC, Revo software, Turbosmart BOV, custom intake, and is fully plug and play into ANY Mk3. - Swap done by ESS, and can verify. Motor and tranny has 25,000 original kms, I have put 400kms on it only. Will come with cluster.
$4500

^^ That would requier some modding to fit into your vehicle because you need to make custom motor mounts but its been done more then enough times..

Go onto this website, sign up, find the correct cabby forum, and search through old threads..

Like I said, 1.8T swap..Once you start dealing with non-VW manufactorors, then your pretty much on your own and hardly any shop will touch it.

Just sell me the Cabriolet, I'll do a 2l 16v swap, make it reliable, and quick. What you're suggesting for the 3.2l V6 will destroy that car simply with the torque it will make, unless you're seriously planning on building the body. And as a V6 track car, I'm skeptical as to wether or not they'd allow it on track. Miata's are allowed, but generally they require roll bars, or the hard top.

You need a cage for a drag car also. I think 11.5 or better with a regular car, and like 12.5 or better with a cabby..
