What if we can't attend Trial Date for speeding ticket, can we ask for re-scheduel?

Hi,

I got my speeding ticket on Aug.30.2008 and chose option 2 (To plead guilty with an explanation) in the office. Then I filled in form in the office and office people put the sticker on the back for my ticket saying " I should receive a Notice of Trial in the mail within 6 mths". Until Feb.04.2009 will be 6 mths already.

My questions are:
- So far, am I getting the right steps since I would like to use Option 2 ?
- If I still haven't received the trial date after 6 months, can I withdraw my case, what will happen if I withdraw?
-If anytime I need to go oversea for 2 mths when I am waiting for my Trial Date, and my Trial Date is here when I am away, can somone go to court for me to re-scheduel since I am not in canada? What will happen if I can't attend the Trial Date and how I can avoid to get charge for not show-up?

If anyone knows or have same experiences, please let me know.
Thanks a lot.

Option 1: plead guilty, pay the fine.

Option 2: plead guilty, go to court, say a few words, then pay the fine.

You are pleading guilty. Game over. You don't even have to show up at your trial. They will convict you and send you the bill. If you show up at trial, after you say a few words, they will convict you and send you the bill. What are you worried about? You've already lost.
