Taking Tickets to Court and Officer Not Showing
I was wondering what the rate was for police not showing up to court when you're fighting a speeding ticket. So far I think this happens 95% of the time from stories from friends and people on the forum.
Does anyone know if they try to bunch court dates together for the officer so they could do this all at one time or do they out the court dates?
Also, if the officer does show, could I plea to a lesser charge and if so how can I plea? (i.e whats my reasoning?) This is my first speeding ticket and I was radar at 25 over a 50 zone. I've been driving for over 7 years.

Well there is not much to say about not showing up, now they are forced to show up in court and if they do show up, they get paid too and it is totally up to them, the more times they show up in court, the better it is for the police, he is getting paid for sitting.... it used to be like that, but last couple of years, it changed... good luck with the ticket, since it is your first ticket, once you go to court, talk to the Crown Attorney and tell him that it is your first ticket, he is the one that lowers the price not the judge... GOOD LUCK..

It is not a Crown Attorney you speak to it's the Prosecutor. Crowns deal with criminal charges and the odd POA matter (usually in conjunction with a criminal charge) and Prosecutors deal strictly with Provincial Offences matters.
