Speeding + High Occupancy Lane

I've just got two tickets at the same time for speeding (85 on a 60) and driving on a High Occupancy Lane on Dufferin, just south of Finch. The cop didn't give me any reductions despite my pleading and just asked how my driving record was. I replied that it is perfect and he just gave me the tickets, then told me to go to court and remind him before the court session that I have a perfect record, saying he'll "give me a break".

What do you guys think? I'm totally unfamiliar with these kinds of situations...

Any help would be appreciated.

Leung can only hope to improve
if he didnt use a radar, plead guilty to doing 75 in a 60 zone so 0 points taken off and thats done. For the high occupancy lane say your new to town and u might get off with it.

He was using a gun on a tripod, so its laser, right?

As for HOV, I've been driving in Ontario since 2003, I doubt I can get away with the excuse. Does anyone know how big of an advantage / disadvantage I would have from having a perfect record?

Thanks again, you guys have a great forum here!

File for a first attendance appointment with the prosecutor. You'll meet with him, informally, and discuss the situation. He may be willing to drop one charge altogether, and possibly amend the other to a reduced charge. If not, you can still take it to trial - if they had a tripod-mounted unit, you were part of a blitz - other vehicles on the road at the time are a big factor.

Your driving record is a large advantage when you meet with the prosecutor.

What do you mean by other cars on the road being a big factor? Such as how fast they were?

Thanks

Other cars on the road can interfere with the officers ability to get an accurate speed reading on your vehicle. Radar and laser speed measuring units are 'line of sight' technologies - they require a clear path to the target.
