What can you do to fight a fail to have insurance card charge? Well, you could hope there is a fatal error on the ticket, you could choose to have a trial and hope the cop dosn't show, or hope for a miracle. Aside from that...nothing.

All sarcasm aside, this is such a minor offence that you can't even barter with the Crown. Because there is no lesser offence. The fine proves that, what was it $55 or so? Your probably aware but there is no points associated with this charge.

Blacky's right. There's no way to fight it unless there's an error on the ticket. The Compulsary Automobile Insurance Act provides no exceptions for failure to produce the insurance card on request.

I'm going to have to give you the same advice about the first ticket too. Because, again there is'nt much to barter with here.

But I think you should consider yourself lucky on this one. The cop obviously knows it was you making the excessive noise, but what else does he know? What else did he see? Maybe he also knows you were drifting?

There are several charges that may apply here. How about "leave roadway not in safety", "fail to drive in marked lane", and perhaps even "Careless driving". Yes, careless driving which carries 6 demerit points! You see, when your vehicle is spinning, especially when its does 3 rotations, your not in control. You may argue that point, but I can promise you that the court will not see it that way.

My point is he dosn't charge you with any of those serious offences. Instead he charges you with a minor offence which has no demerit points, and again a minimal fine.

Like I said you should consider yourself lucky over this one.

These are both bogus tickets. THe no insurance card is no biggy. If you did have insurance at the time, just show up with the card and get a letter from your insurance company stating that you did have insurance at the time. Now for the unnecessary noice ticket. It doesn't hold up in court. The reason being, you were in a public area and can only be charged if there was a complaint about the noise. But, I will say this though, the cop has to state what the noise was, how loud it was and the area you were in. Public park lots are usually exempt from such noise laws unless its between the hours of 11pm and 7 am in the morning. About 90% of the time, if you stand up and tell the judge the truth about the incident and say something like it was inmature of you to do such behaviour, they may reduce the charge and fine or throw it out completely. It depends if the judge is fair, in a good mood and they believe your story.

Cryoslash, yes if you explain that you're short on cash they will accomodate you. In fact they will probably ask you how much time you need, but no guarentee that's what the JP will give you.
As far as Bandit's post, " just show up with the card and get a letter from your insurance company stating that you did have insurance at the time". Your confusing being charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and fail to produce insurance card. If Cryo had been charged with operating with no insurance your advice would be valid. In regards to the noise between 11-7 am, your referring to noise by-laws. They can vary from city to city. In fact in my city there is no time limit. You make excessive noise at any time, its an offence. But to get back to your point, thats a by-law we are talking about a charge laid under a provincial statute. Another point to clarify, you say that you can only be charged if there is a public complaint? Not so I'm afraid. After all the officer is a member of public, right? But you are right about the officer having to say what the noise was, how loud it was, and where the offence took place.

you were "drifting" in a parking lot and made up a story that you hit sand. k i got that. CLEARLY that wasnt your fault. then, you dont keep insurance on you and failed to provide proof of it, so u were given a ticket. hmmm. think i covered up everything, right?

instead of asking for help on how to fight your tickets, you could have done the obvious thing and went to the cop station the next day and provided proof of insurance. also, instead of makin a bs story next time, be honest with the cop, he/she probably isnt an idiot, and can tell what you were doing. it might have got you off with a warning.

improper muffler or noise polution tickets dont need to be metred.
mufflers doesnt matter. Police officers dont need to check.

That ticket is at the discretion of the officer, good luck fighting it.

for the no insurance slip you should of went the next day to the cop station showed them the slip and make something up like u forogt your wallet at home. usally if u tell them that from the begining they wait for someone to bring it to you, or next day u show them. for the unnessary noise ticket like i said even though its not for muffler get a bill of sale that you replaced something with your muffler. easiest way to get out of them freely. If did have insurance for that date and u could show the prove of it in court it will get dropped also.
