engine swaps and insurance

What kind of swap do you have in your car? If its like for example;
a 98 honda civic with a 1.6L motor and you swap in a B16 which is still a 1.6L..then dont worry about it..If your swapping in a 3.2L Acura El motor, then I'd change it on your ownership and tell the insurence..Cuz if your car gets stolen, they only cover what they know about..

I had a 87 VW Jetta that came with a 1.8 8v and I swapped in a 2L 16v but I told my insurence and they were fine with it because I told them the motor blew on the 8v..Then I added a decently sized snail and spent another 3000$ in to the motor and I told my insurence company and they insured it still

My friends insurence went up 100$ once they found out he had an intake and exhaust on his integra. So be very carefull and expect the insurence to go up when you do mods. But i think it comes down to insurence company tho, so call them and ask before you do anything.

Only time I would tell them about my new motor is if you wanted it covered by insurance if your car gets stolen. Other than that there's no need to let them know. And if you do tell them you'll either need to fax them a reciept or they'll make you get your car apraised.
