Drunk Cops Crash
Continuing to show the incompetence of SOME police forces around the world, here is another article.
11 December 2004, Bee Creek, Texas
Austin Police Commander Shauna Jacobson knew she was drunk. In fact, her blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit, at .33, close to what is considered to be alcohol poisoning. So she wisely decided to let her husband drive their motorcycle. The only problem was that retired detective Kurt Jacobson’s blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
It had been a hootin’ and hollerin’ occasion at Bobby Joe Bailey’s bar just off Highway 71. More than 100 people, mostly Austin police officers, showed up for the barbecue benefit to raise money for a police victims assistance counselor who has multiple sclerosis. At 5:30 p.m., Kurt drove his motorcycle into the bar and laid a patch of rubber on the floor tiles. The smoke was so thick it cleared out the bar. Bobby Joe suggested that he might want to park his ride outside.
Shauna, who weighed about half as much as her 230-pound husband, had been matching him almost drink for drink for drink. Shortly after 7 p.m., Shauna climbed up behind Kurt and they took off on their motorcycle. Less than a mile east of the bar, their bike rammed into a guard rail at excessive speed, sending them flying off the road. Neither was wearing a helmet. They both died instantly.
Austin Police Chief Stan Knee later said, “We have a policy that our employees will not violate the law.”

This just does not lie there.....where would one want to start on this subject
You could easily find Professional Athletes, Teachers, Lawyers, Mayors, Doctors, Actors, etc with varying rolls within our society that are looked upon by others to "supposed" to set good examples. Or even other professions in our society truck drivers, mechanics, assembly line workers, computer geeks etc or yes even students....You can find articles daily where some person in some profession has royally screwed up with alcohol, drugs etc and driven while intoxicated and crashed.
So I hope in future every impaired collision is announced on this site, just so we can see the other "incompetence of other professions" as well.

your probabley right, i should add some, and i will.
But cmon buddy, its more than 100 POLICE OFFICERS going to a BAR, to DRINK. Do i need to emphesize this any more, im not gonna argue with you but seriousley you have to admit the whole idea or laws apply to everyone is not working that well now is it ?
A police officer should obide by the laws that he/she enforces, but coming to the banquet hall i work in on the weekend and getting **** drunk with the whole devision, then going to work(32 division) is not reinforcing my belief in the police force and you must understand that.

At least they killed themselves only. Thankfully there were no innocent victims.

Well, I don't know how it works in a police dept. At the federal level, I know some people who have been removed/transferred to desk jobs... For not following the regulations, they enforce....
Practice what you preach is a good line. But, like someone already mentioned; it does not matter what industry you look at, there will always be a few bad apples...

Wasn't there a Breathalyzer Technician that got nailed with DUI sometime in the last week or so. I know he was from Toronto, and that he was caught in Ohio. I think he was more than twice the legal limit.

July 13 2001 13th street wasaga
1 Metro officer and passenger (Police college student..soon to be officer)
they leave the bar around 1am, begin speedind from downtown...get to 13th street, doing 140km/h EASY in a widetrack GrandPrix (they don't handle that well) they start a drift (I'm coiming the opposite way, and see all of the drivers side of the car) on the corner (mosely/13th) lose it, go into their shoulder, hit a fence, 3-4 post shoot STRAIGHT into the air, they continue, they hit a tree, maybe 6" diameter, crack straight through it...they hit the corner of a cement patio, ricochet off it and continue, they hit a tree maybe 18" in diameter, and the grand prix comes to rest on its rear bumper leaning on the tree, pointed straight UP.
I turn around throw on my highbeams, check for survivors, see white in the passenger compartment, start think oh these dudes are dead for sure.
As I survey the scene, a guy gets up from the grass behind the house. Hes screaming "oh , ah oh ...", I ask him 2-3 times "how many occupants?" he falls down unconcious, he was wearing a Molson canadian t-shirt with the maple leaf in the centre (i THought it was a huge blood stain on his chest).
they both got thrown from the car, and the white was aribags. they hit so hard the rear seat came out the back glass, in 2 pieces
1 year later he pleads guilty to impaired and over 80, his buddy needed facial reconstructive surgery, but they both lived. The tree stands to this day, wearing the flame marks from his Grand prix's oil fire.
TRUE STORY, cops are -ups too, on occasion, but like anything they can't all be painted with the same brush...
thought I'd share what cost me 10 hours of my life (as a witness, at the scene/trial)
