Driving Under Suspension

I had my license suspended for about 9 days for unpaid $30 fine. I got pulled over and was charged with driving under suspension. Anyboy had any experience with this? What would you recommend? Try and fight it yourself or hire a paralegal?

Why would you even try to fight that?

You either have a valid license, or you don't. There's no room for interpretation or error, unless you can prove you weren't actually under suspension.

Enjoy your insurance hike.

If you get suspended again, try to learn a lesson from yourself - it doesn't matter how short your suspension is, you can still get pulled over at any time and have your ***** smashed by a police officer.

"It won't happen to me" just did.

if you had already been served a notice of suspension from a cop then you're screwed. If you had not already been served by a cop then then cop probably served you with a Notice of Suspension which means that you can drive until you pay your fine. and in that case it's not a big deal. There's no record, no points and no fine

So what are you saying?

Until you have been told by a police officer that your licence is suspended you are able to drive on a suspended licence?

They ALWAYS mail out a suspension notice. So what you said confuses me.

I got the notice today that my licence was suspended 6 days ago for an unpaid speeding ticket.

I really thought I paid the ticket but did not.

Now my licence is suspended.. I didn't even get a warning.

I *MUST* drive! it is not an option. I plan to pay the ticket first thing in the morning.

When will I be legally driving!?

Cause now if I get pulled over they are really going to screw me. And it all could have been saved if I received a notice saying they have not received payment yet. They go to all the effort of suspending my extremely important ability to drive but they can't mail out a notice...

This is not right at all.

I paid my ticket and re-instatment fee this morning.

Interesting how.. everything else in this world is instant even the suspension of my licence.. the money I paid the ticket with is even instantly taken from my account.

BUT

I have to wait 4 days + the weekend until I can go get a temporary licence. Everything else in this world is computerized and immediate except the that is actually important.

So I drove the 6 days without a licence.

It's complete bullshit how this operates.

I talked to my parents and they forwarded me to their lawyers.

I told them the situation and they told me if I am really pissed off and wanted to change how things are handled

I should have made a huge scene and basically thrown a temper tantrum and gotten the police and then the media involved.

and then from their they would have a real chance at starting the process of changing the process of suspension...
