Toyota’s seventh-generation Camry oozes flare

Dinner parties. I love them. When I’m in town to attend one, I can’t help but get excited.

Not only do they give me a chance to get my bake on, but they also bring the girls together along with everyone’s tasty signature dishes. Amy contributes her amazing cookies (or anything in between that consists of a base of butter, sugar and flour); Janey makes a fabulous tzatziki dip accompanied with freshly cut vegetables; Sarah cooks a turkey chili; and Jocelyn brings her deep fryer . . .

No matter how many times we eat the same foods over and over again, they seem to get more and more appealing every occasion.

Toyota has done the same with one of its ‘signature’ dishes, or in this case, vehicles: the Camry. Throughout the past six generations on the market, this core product in the Japanese auto manufacturers lineup continues to be a hit with the masses. For nine years and counting, and 13 of the last 14 years, this mid-size sedan has been the No. 1-selling passenger vehicle in North America. That’s not a bad title to have under one’s timing belt.

Furthermore, the 15 million units sold in 100 countries demonstrates that this model has solidified its presence into the hearts and driveways of consumers globally.

With the introduction of the all-new, seventh generation Camry, Toyota’s recipe for a successful four-door gets even more flavour and flare.

The engineers at Toyota set out to create a more powerful yet more efficient engine under the hood. The result? Just that. Offered on the LE, SE and XLE trims is a new 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, which has an output of 178 horsepower (up nine from the last gen) and 170 lbs.-ft of torque. And thanks to some clever tweaking, the 4-cylinder Camry now has an estimated combined fuel economy of 7.0L/100 km.
