Tuners Against Street Racing 2008, July 13, 2008 - Mark your calenders.
Hello everyone, first of all I would like to thank GTcars.ca community for their support in our cause, and the most amazing event coverage out there right now anywhere. Now GTcars.ca is even more enhanced with articles, pictures and video.
http://www.tunersagainststreetracing.com/
Our 2007 Charity Event was a huge, unexpected success and we are doing it again in 2008. The purpose is to build on our 2007 event, and even more awareness, as well further showcase automotive enthusiasts, and Tuners as responsible individuals making a difference in their communities, as opposed to what the media may sometimes portray. This is also a call out to anyone who has links in media to get them to come out and see for themselves what Tuners and Youth Automotive enthusiasts are really doing and how they support their communities and Charity. Here are details:
We have not posted a link for online registrations yet as this is being done, but the date is set in stone July13, which is a Sunday. Many people requested Sunday as they were unable to make it last year so we listened. This year’s show should have more Educational aspects already building on our seminars in 2007, more race driving school re-, More Entertainment etc. Our main focus for 2008 is raising the most money possible for Big Brothers and Big sisters which is the charity that works with us and we chose to support for our events. We also invite anyone to come out and get involved with our cause and with Big Brothers and Big sisters as they are in need of Youth Male role models to shape our future society through positive guidance and impact.
More info soon.
Get ready for 2008.
Matt

Everyone is invited, but come with an open mind, maybe you will learn something and stop street racing on the streets and start racing on the track. We will be able to offer different alternatives to street racing, eg. racing on the track.

The real street racing, which does most of the killing is happening while its still day light outside.
I personally will not drive to Cayuga just to do a couple runs.

I dont agree with street racing - simply because of the negativity it has with the entire Tuning scene.
Lets face it - MADD can have weekly raves and weeknight bingo events - but there will always be Drunk Drivers

Like I stated before I dont race. I have, as many of you have, but I dont anymore. I modify my dub for the love of the VW scene and imports. The main issue is that the government and the media plays out street racing like its a insanely huge problem where I believe street racing has caused roughly 40 deaths in the last 8 years. How many deaths have been caused by drunk drivers in the last 2 years?
The reason why governemt is trying so hard on street racing is because they know that its alot easier to catch someone in a car then it is to catch someone with a gun. Most Canadian cops blow at their jobs and cant arrest anyone who has done a real crime and even then when someone is commited of murder or whatever gets a nice slap on the wrist with a 1-2 year sentence.
