----------Media Advisory-----------
York Region, October 15, 2005 – Epilepsy York Region’s third annual “not so” Amazing Race and Car Rally will take place as follows:
Date: Saturday, October 15, 2005
Location: Loyal True Blue & Orange Home
11181 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario
Starting in intervals between 12:00 noon – and 2 pm, contestants will check in and receive their starting details to begin the Amazing Race and Car Rally throughout York Region. Admission fee is $50.00 per car, which includes 2 tickets to enjoy the After Race Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the beautiful and scenic Southbrook Winery.
A fun and challenging event that involves solving clues and rhymes that will take you and your passengers across York Region in search of scavenger items on your list. Teams will be given a starting package with a clue list and emergency directions (in case you get lost). Several pit stops along the way and further clues will challenge you and your team to arrive at the right place at the right time with the right items to be eligible for one of the great prizes. A certificate of completion will be awarded to each team that finishes the race. Results and prizes will be awarded at the After Race Dinner and Awards Ceremony. This will be a fantastic and fun way to help us help children living with epilepsy in York Region.
Epilepsy York Region, about us:
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder, resulting from sudden bursts of electrical activity in the brain. The electrical discharges produce seizures, which can vary in form and frequency from one child to another. Most people develop a seizure disorder during childhood or adolescence. That is why we are directing the funds from this event towards programs and services directly helping children living with Epilepsy.
An estimated 7,000 children living in York Region have Epilepsy. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to increase our educational tools and support groups, not only for children with seizures, but for parents and caregivers. Epilepsy affects the whole family and extended family units, whom all need the required tools and support to improve the quality of life for children living with Epilepsy.
TOGETHER OUR COMMUNITY CAN HELP BRING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES LIVING WITH EPILEPSY – TOGETHER
