323, Mx3, Mx6, Probe owners beef with Importfest 6 Organizers.
For the second year in a row no mazda MX/Probe class
- There were about 4 probes and 2 MX6's and a couple of mX3's.. enough for our own class, as opposed to being grouped in bogus classes as IMPORT other bla bla bla, as the Toyota MR2 had a class of their own...
- And yes I shall write an email to I fest about this as well, which of course may or may not be ignored, chances are it will...I mean people might say bla bla .. mazda mx6, mx3, PROBE its old it doesn’t matter... In reality, when the bigger shows start to bitch slap smaller scale enthusiasts the less of a following there will be. We are already seeing a decline of cars, as enthusiasts are pulling out and eventually the shows shall become a huge sponsored car fest. ie boring and than slowly disipate.
- I hope that next time I Fest approaches the forum owners or club owners please mention this and our (smaller scale enthusiasts) dislike of this.
- After all I fest was based upon small-scale enthusiasts and only after a few years has grown to be supported by large-scale corporations, and is what it is today. Ignoring the small guys will only cause it to implode on itself. Having a "I'm the biggest baddes show in Canada "(currently being) attitude may eventually become short lived as there is always someone with more money and more resources waiting to eat you out. This is one fundamental rule of business and a cut through world. 6 does not equal forever!!!
- Point of this thread is a wake up call to the class organizers to be a bit more specific as well as tolerant in their classes. I mean look at the civic classes 89-92, 92-95 .. bla bla bla 20 classes for one car model? Come one give me a break. No skyline class either.
- Also I hope someone brings it up to the organizers about what a silly move it was not to include a large scale game console manufacturer such as XBOX(Microsoft), Play station 3(SONY), or Nintendo WII as one of the title sponsors. I mean if we don’t mod our cars we play the latest video games, or every one of us has a Game console in their cars. I would rather see a nice little gaming competition on the main stage as opposed to the entertainment displayed on stage. Well okay except the lingerie show. Lol just funny ..
I seek everyone’s support in this matter as this should be brought up to I fest organizers. Peace out.
Matt

Interesting read....
I have a couple things i would like to resolve with Bret as well in regards to this event. He hasn't returned my calls or emails, i do imagine hes busy or swamped so i will give him some more time.
As for title sponsors, its not always easy putting these things together, the show was pretty good. Without a doubt a ton of work went into it.
As for the classes, would be nice to see one of the event organizers chime in on this.
And to others, this ISNT the rant section. So keep the discussion on topic.

Matt. This is Bret, i help out with the show and im here to address your issues with the classes.
We have a classes for every make and model..and we are fair.
We even make new categories if there are 5 cars or more.
The rules are register and pay early (The deadline for categories and trophies are exactly 1 month before the show, min of 5 cars or more) If you register late and there is no category, dont complain and bitch. If not our problem and no ones problem except for yours. Deal with it. ie. Even if there was 100 Probe at the show last minute, there will still be no class for Probe. Too late.
Why was there a MR2 Class? Cause they register early!
Why was there no Skyline class ? Cause only 2 register and paid !
Why was there no Probe MX3 or MX6 class ? Cause you people register late and less than 5 cars each !
We give the benefit of the doubt and if no one like yourself take advantage of it..hahha. too bad.
I suggest next time if you do plan to return, make sure to register early and perhaps get a group of guys who have the same cars as you to register at the same time and secure a category for your class, this way we wont have to hear you bitch and complain and im sure people on the board wouldnt like to hear you bitch.
Enough said.
Have a nice day.

Just look here for starters Brett.. I shall post you up with later developments.

.. and if you do PR for them than your response is very un business like Mr. Brett And also you are accusing me of bitching? I didn’t BITCH as you are portraying me to be, I simply outlined our dislike and proposed some suggestions, which you just publicly ignored and to top it of responded with a bullish attitude as in: “U don’t like it go F your self.” Thanks if I ever do it won’t be to your response. You are certainly portraying a great image for Import Fest, congrats!!! It’s a public discussion board and I am free to post. It is our beef and its something needed to be addressed. Being involved with shows for a while I speak for the ones who cant speak or are not heard. After all we brought quite a bit of cars to the show? U don’t want us to show up again? Isn’t it your job to improve things for next year, as it seems to be an issue year after year? Last I checked the Canadian Charter of Rights and freedoms I was free to comment on anything especially with the poor organization of the show. Wait are you a Canadian Citizen? Btw I registered early with Vitalmotion, and I cruise with many clubs, mx6.com, team slipstream etc just to name a few and there are a many who share similar views on various aspects such as this. Many of us registered early it was the fault of the late sorting of forms and registrations by I fest which determined that rushed judging and obliteration and merging of classes resulted. Why have a tech registration/sorting tent? Would be a good idea at the day of the show to make sure that classes are still right as anything can come up. One thing I learned that once we get MOM 2007 (meeting of the Mazdas for 2007 up and running with Mazda this upcoming year we shall learn from I fest mistakes and not repeat them for our event). Cuz we only had.. what? 350 moded mazdas show up to MOM 2006. lol
Peace

For those car enthusiasts that are just starting out. When i look at this sort of replies back to the enthusiast community by one that is suppose to show at least a bit of professionalism, makes me not want to register or come out to the events. I agree register early and get your classes organized but the msequece was just suggesting to take a closer look at your organization methods, in this particular case the class sorting. Every year its a learning process but when remarks get thrown maybe those event organizers should step down and let someone else do the job right, or take the comments like a man and instead of deriving negative comments suggest solutions in a positive tone.

I've been going to IF since 2002 and i registered my car for the first time in 2004. It seems like every year its getting worse and worse. i had the same situation as Matt in 2005 about del sol's and i got the same negative email as he did from the organizers. The judges are a joke they no nothing about the cars they are judging. They don't even interact with the owners of the vehicles. I ordered power for the whole day but didn't receive it until 2pm. it might not be IF problem but it was an issue that day. they should seperate the cars that are owned by manufactures from the independent owners. give us a chance. over all i'm very disappointed from the organization. i won't be there next year. Would someone tell those guys on stage to shut the F***up!!!!!!!!!!! they are annoying.

ek9ctr: It is representatives like YOU that ruined your own show. How can you be a PR person and DISS a customer????
Importfest has THE worst reputation for a car show here in Vancouver BC.
msequence, you complain of no class for your cars?
How about, no trophies available at the Trophy Ceremony at the end of Importfest 2005 Vancouver Show. LOL
I have never been to a car show that had bombed so hard! When the doors opened for the public, the line up was BARELY 20 people long!
Anyways, long story short, your complaining will basically go no where... Ifest people just don't know how to treat their customers.

Well I have received a response from Basit Mirza the owner of Importfest, and I was assured that there shall be a meeting in regards to this. I will follow up with him in a week or so to see the outcome. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt to get things going. Even importfest started out as grass roots show, everyone deserves a chance to fix stuff up. If nothing is done it may well end up like vancouver next year.

Is this Brett guy seriously the IF PR guy? I have never heard such condescending talk come from a supposed promoter's mouth ever. Business must be bad with that foul mood. And before you direct that at me, I know much larger promoters that you could only be in your wet dreams who would never talk like that publically.
I think you owe a public apology to this user and the other Mazda owners out there and try to make amends.
Basit and Asim should get an FYI on your conduct concerning the show they took years to build.

Bret was my contact for the event, so yes, he is for real.
I wont get involved with the logistics issues or comments as theyre for him to handle. I enjoyed the event and i hope to attend it next year again.
