For those that dont follow it, its a race put on by HOT ROD magazine, its invitational. Pump gas only 93 Octane, they fill it up, seal the cap and leave the car in quarantine over night at Comp Cams (no working on car) Then they all (50 racers) are escorted through rush hour traffic, highways, back roads, to the track and make 3 back to back passes with the hoods CLOSED.
The viper would have won (twin turbo Heffner car) but 1st pass he missed a shift, 2nd pass boost controller was ed and finally got a good 3rd and final pass. Winner has the lowest average.

....77.. The rambler was small block chev powered with a 101mm turbo. It was Billy Rimmers old car I think. It use to have a 632 BBC and spray. Always been a sleeper. Been running 8s for 10 years now.
