My best friend has a couple of the OLD speed triples -- a 1974 Trident and a 1975 Trident with a Norman Hyde racing kit. They're great when they run. Problem is they require a lot of maintenance and it's hard to find someone who will work on them when they break down. But hey, if they built the new Daytona 675 the same way they built the Daytona 1200 it's gonna be one bad motor scooter. Besides, I'd rather have a Triumph than a Harley -- even the Harley riders take notice when you're riding a Triumph.

I was ready to put a deposit down on one. I've long been a fan of the speed triple but the seat is too high for me. While the seat is lower on the Street Triple, it is only down a half inch. I'll keep riding my 99 Triumph Legend until something better comes along. No worries. I bought it new and it's as dependable as any bike I've owned. Love Triumph triples.
