Riding a motorcycle legally without license in PA?

Is it possible for me to buy a motorcycle and ride it without having to get a license? I remember some movies where kids of 16-17 yrs old ride a motorcycle and they don't have a license or anything. Is it possible for me to do the same? If so, give me the details, if not, why not?

no. You need a permit for anything motorized AKA with a engine other than the human body.

No it is not possible to ride a vehicle and the motorcycle is a vehicle...you not only have to be licensed but you also have to have insurance...disregarding these things can make you license an impossibility in the future

No, except on your own property. Anything you ride on a public highway has to be registered and licensed and so do you as the operator.

yes - it is possible, but you would have to go through want ads to buy your motorcycle. Most dealerships will require that you have a motorcycle license before you can buy a bike from them. But also remember that "movies" are fictional, so kids riding motorcycles in them without a license is not real life!

Since PA has stupid rules and law, you have to have a license to operate anything with a motor on any road outside of any confined areas. The movie may have been in a state where the rules aren't as strict. I would get a license first only because the cops in PA always out to get you. lol

Why would you base any type of legal issue on The Movies? In some states you can ride a scooter with 50cc's or less without a license or having to register it.

if you are planning on riding it on a public road you need a license, because thats the law in PA 75 Pa.C.S.A sect. 1501: Drivers Required to be LicensedNo person, except those expressly exempted, shall drive any motor vehicle upon a highway or public property in the Commonwealth unless the person has a drivers license valid under the provisions of this chapter.also, registration and certificate of title is required if you want to drive on the road. oh yes... and insurance.

HERES THE REAL DEAL,... You DO NOT need a license to operate a motorcycle in the state of Pennsylvania. You must be 16, You must have a motorcycle permit. To get the permit, you have to take a multiple choice knowledge test at the local DMV on a video screen,if you pass (read the book,it's easy) you pay the fee,and are issued a permit on the spot. The regulations on riding with a permit are as follows, not night time riding,no passengers on bike with you at any time for any reason, you MUST wear a DOT approved helmet at all times. In PA, you used to be able to just pay the fee and they gave you the permit, now you have to take the test. I'll give you a tip,................go to a drivers center operated by the state,...stay away from the ones that are DMV approved but operated by private companies. The private ones suck, they charge more, and will fail you just so you have to retake the test and pay the higher fee over and over again. GOOD LUCK! Rob in PA.
