How much weight can a motor cycle hold?

i am wondering how much human weight it can hold. The reason I am asking is because my brother in law has a motorcycle and it's awesome and I would love to ride on the back of it because I've never been on one before. I am afraid that it may not hold my weight.

It depends on the type of bike. A cruiser will usually handle 500-600 lbs with no problem. It may bottom out the springs for a sec on some larger bumps, but it will still ride just fine.On a standard or sport bike, it's a little less, 400-500 lbs max, but really that's more of a matter of center of gravity vs. capacity. (It gets more difficult to control with all that weight above its center of gravity.)If it's a sport bike you plan on going two-up on and you're overweight, I'd advise against it. You'll be making it difficult for him to handle the bike, and you could both go down.Larger bikes, 1000cc and up, are usually meant to handle two-up anyway, so they can sometimes handle 600-800 lbs (passengers AND luggage/gear, etc.) with no problem. Of course, those bikes weigh a ton or more themselves!Every motorcycle has an operator's manual that tells the recommended weight limit. But they usually run about 100-150 less than what you can really do, for legal reasons.ABOVE ALL, make sure you wear good safety gear!!! A full-faced helmet, a leather jacket, at least denim pants, and good motorcycle or over-the-heel boots. Whatever you do, don't hop on with a T-shirt and flip-flops and a salad bowl helmet. Even if HE doesn't mind taking that risk, you should not. And make sure you discuss how to LEAN with the turns.
