Exclamation Quick 323 Question

i know i know, another dumb 323 question

1990 323, 1.8L SOHC Manual

when I sit and let my car idle, like in a long line at Tim Hortons, or Just Sitting talkin to friends with the car running, the temp gauge rises rather quickly, but then goes down just as quick when I start to drive it....ive check the coolant, and its optimal level, im wondering if its a sensor thats actin up, or done for

any suggestions would be welcome, thank you

Is your rad fan going on? Mazda didn't use a weather-tight connector for the rad fan (or almost anything else under the bood) so chances are you've got some corrosion on the terminals which is preventing the fan from switching on.
