Dodge Charger VS EVO (many times)
I posted this in member rides topic, but thought I would share this again.
When I first got my 69 Charger, it had a 727 auto transmission with a 318 4BBL motor, I went out and did a few mods to it, Holley 760cfm 4BBL carb, 3.55 gearing, Summit headers, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Edelbrock Signature valve covers, and MSD Ignition and Ignition Coil. I thought I was the fastest kid in school beating Preludes and Civics, untell I ran an EVO. He went to the school, and challenged me because he heard me talking crap about a race I had won against a LS1 Camaro. We raced after school, right infront of the school, so alot of people saw, even some teachers saw, I had one hell of a morning the next day, but when I ran him the first time, he totally had me from the get go, untell I hit about 60-65, then I started to close the gap between us and close it fast, he shut down and then I quit racing, we both agreed that he won from the get go, but in the long run I would have passed him.
Then I went out to E-bay, and picked up a new motor, a 440 Six Pack set up for $4,000, and for another $600 he could toss in a 4 speed transmission. So I paid the $4,600, well my dad did, I was paying him back. The motor and trans was installed shortly after. The motor was pretty much stock, with the exception of tunned carbs, and exhaust. I ran the EVO again, this time it was a better out come. Out of the box he was still faster, but just to give you an idea how close I was, the front end of my car was at his front doors, so our 0-60 was only about a tenth or less appart, when my 3rd gear came he was gone, long gone, I had walked him almost like no other car has ever been walked, I mean he was long gone, it was an awesome race.
Soon, I had a new camshaft, lifters, roller rocker arms, push rods, valve springs, intake and head work, headers, better exhaust, rebuilt rear etc, we raced again. He turned up his boost his friend said, he still denys it to this day, I had 2 passengers in the car at the time, he had one. But from the dig, I had his ***, by 60 MPH I was a good half car lenth ahead of him, and by 3rd he was about 2 bus lenths behind me and falling fast every second, when I shut it down at 120 or so I was blown away, because I had no idea how fast this car had became, I would say that when I was shutting down, he might have been reaching 80-90 MPH range, because he was very far behind. It was not a close race at all.
That is pretty much it lol

Gas prices are a little high. I drive it some times to and from work, which is about 4 miles from my house, if I do not take that I take my Jeep. If we are going on a trip or anything, or If I need to take a long trip, you better believe the Charger is in the garage, Hell it over heats after like 50 miles some times if I am driving it hard enough lol

A car isn't supposed to overheat.

Yah if your car is over heating after 50 miles your cooling system has some issues that needs to be sorted out

Well the radiator is pretty damn small, after all the car was made with drag racing in mind. It does over heat time to time, mostly if I am hitting WOT alot, if I really push the car then it likes to run a little hot. I do not take this on long trips anymore because of this, I hated pulling over every 30 miles or so and shutting off the car for about 15 minutes to let it cool then hope back on the road.

one of the first things I did to my rabbit was get a bigger rad for it. But then again mine was designed to drive to the track, work, groceries, beach, vacation etc. It was designed to be street driven, not just raced

A 318 in a 4000LB B-body with 760 cfm of "waay too much carb" barely losing to an EVO eh?? Then you got a 440 six pak for 4 grand?? and a A833 4 spd for 400 bucks?? (cars these came with will fetch over 100 grand). You aint foolin nobody kid. Show me some pictures of this sublime green 440 sixpak, 4 spd, 68 Charger. And better yet, show us the EVO. Sure its not a lancer?? :hah:

The 440+6 was not an original 440 SIC PACK motor. It was a 440 from a GTX, but had a 6 pack set up installed, not from a 440+6 Charger at all, that alone would be worth a mint. It is a 69 Charger, with a 383, if I said 318 I am very mistaken, a 318 would not even move the damn thing. And the 4 speed it came with was a great deal, $400 for a complete 4 speed transmssion, shipping and handling it was a little high, but other then that it was good. Transmission is fine, no problems, its an excellent transmission, far better then the auto, sure the 727 was nice, and I am 100% sure it was a Lancer EVO.
Dont beleve me Get U Sum, make a time and date and I can show you the car in person.
