I own a '01 Sante Fe, and in the past week it has stalled 3 times at night when temps are -20 F. Car starts, then stalls. Won't restart. Garage said it was flooded each time, but I did nothing to cause this problem. Dealership changed air flow sensor. Happened again. This time they changed timing belt. Hope this works. Has anyone else had similar problem?

 

Cranks but no start? Usually sounds like its cranking very fast. It doesn't
get very cold down here in FL but when we get concerns like this we look at
the purge control valve. If that sticks open, the intake manifold becomes
flooded with fuel vapor. V6 models have a new upgraded purge control valve
with a filter integrated to prevent such a problem.

I took my 03 Elantra in yesterday for service because of the check
engine light. Turned out to be the purge control valve solenoid. I
also noticed the car was very hard to start immediately after filling up
the gas tank during the time frame the check engine light was on. I
basically had to pump and feather the gas for the first 10 seconds to
keep it running. I assumed the cause of the check engine light and the
hard starting after filling was related and when I picked up the car I
asked about that, the service person said the two were not related?
Sounds like they are. I guess I'll find out next time I fill up.

From the paperwork, it appears to have been a code 15? And they
replaced the purge control valve, not the purge control valve solenoid
that I initially had stated.

sshould be on the repair order. Look at your copy of the R.O.
