Wheel Bearing Problems
Howdy,
So I was wrong. It wasn't the catalytic converter...it was my front
wheel bearing that was making all the noise, but still $300 per bearing
to fix (with parts and labour). Apparently, the Hyundai dealer claims
that poor wheel bearings is a major defect with Tiburons. Anyone else
have this as an issue?

Where's the original post you made? ...ah, Message-ID
3F06CAF0.2010408@rogers.com ? Follow up when the topic remains the
same, rather than creating new threads, and it's much easier to follow
conversations. Or at least include some context, so it's easier to
figure out what happened previously.

I went to newtiburon.com and grepped the last 2 months of their forums
for "bearing", only found 2 posts about wheel bearings:
http://www.newtiburon.com/yabbse/ind...ction=display;
threadid=21394;start=msg300357#msg300357
http://www.newtiburon.com/yabbse/ind...ction=display;
threadid=19962;start=msg289369#msg289369
(both links all on one line, natch.) If there were a real problem
affecting a lot of people, I'd expect more posts on that site about it,
but ICBW. Your original post said this was a 1999 Tiburon; maybe this
problem has been resolved/ameliorated in newer models and that's why I'm
not seeing anything relevant on that website.
Most of what I found was related to the clutch on newer V6 Tiburons,
which *does* seem to have a problem. Anyway, I haven't had any problems
so far, but then I've only got 2800 miles on my 2003 Tiburon.

Front wheel bearings shouldn't be worn out at 130km.
What shape are your tires in? Worn out tires can sound just like a bad
wheel bearing.
