Update of XG350L negotiation
I called a Hyundai dealership 34 miles away, spoke to sales mgr, he'll
pay for both my remaining lease payments, and $25 over invoice. He was
emphasizing "$25 over MY invoice, right???" That makes me nervous - how
many versions of HIS invoice are there, and what is real? Well, I'm now
armed with Edmunds TMV and Consumer Reports Wholesale report. Of course
I'll call back my first dealer, the local one, to see if he'll match or
do better (can they sell it to you under invoice, maybe make my next
mortgage payment? If they do, I'll call a third dealer and ask them to
throw in a high definition 36" TV).
I hate this telling one guy I'm on my way over, and then calling another
dealer to see if they can beat the price. But this is their very
distasteful game, not mine, ie. "I can't believe the sales manager
agreed to that, he's NEVER done that before".

Note that "their invoice" may well include $500 or so for advertising
allocation.

Re: Update of XG350L negotiation
Robin,
First, if this had been posted by someone else, think about what your
response would be. I would bet that the deal they'd make today would be the
deal they'd make in a month. Don't rush into ANYTHING if you're not entirely
comfortable. Do what's right for you. While I wouldn't swear that they're
lying, they will say almost anything to make a deal today. As I also said in
an earlier post, the closer to the end of the month, the more advantageous
to you - they're under pressure to make their quota.
BTW - I got my car from Glendale Hyundai in Glendale, CA, and have had a
fairly good experience with the sale and especially the service.
