stutter shift.
Does anyone in this group have a problem with the 2nd to 3rd shift in a 2003
Santa Fe with the 3.5L V6? The dealer has looked at this for me, says that
they hardly notice it, but have also told me that they can "flash" the chip
that controls the transmission and it might fix the problem. However, they
currently do not have the programming to do this for the 3.5L motor in a
Santa Fe.
Also, I have an intermittant problem with severe pinging when pulling a mild
grade in 4th or 5 gear. I know that "bad" gas can cause this, but I use gas
from a multitude of different places and it just happens any time. In fact,
sometimes it will do it, but then not do it again for a few days. The only
pattern I can notice is that it will do it after the motor has been shut off
for a short while, like going into a store for a while, then it will ping
during the first few minutes it is driven after restart. Whatever the
cause, the dealer told em that it might be fixed by flashing the chip for
the trans problem mentioned above.
Any ideas out there?

There is a fix for it. Go to hyundai webtech and you cna get the details. I
think the trick is to let the tranny re-learn the style of your driving. The
trans has adaptive learning so you just need to disconnect the neg batt
cable for 20 minutes. then re-connect the cable and drive following a
prescribed manner for 500 miles or so.
Go to www.santafeforum.net. Sign up and go to the message boards. Under
repairs, I think you will find more details. along the left side of the
message board pages there is also a link to the webtech site.
Good Luck.
