Seat bottom won't release
I'm trying to put the left seats down in my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe LX to
transport a desk out to my daughter at college this evening and for some
reason the left seat bottom won't release to allow me to put the seat back
down.
I have a service appointment scheduled for the end of next week and can have
the dealer look at it then but I'd really like to get the seat down today to
fit the desk in for this evening. Anyone know if there is a cable or linkage
that controls this and how I can access it?
TIA,
Jon

Re: Seat bottom won't release
There should be a strap that comes up from below the seat. If you can't
find it in the fold, it's probably under the seat. The last time I saw a
Santa Fe with this issue, I forced my arm under the seat looking for the
strap and eventually the force popped the seat loose before I found the
strap. I then put the strap back in its holder.

Re: Seat bottom won't release
Thanks, Hyundaitech.
I thought the strap was just to give you something to pull the seat bottom
up with. I've always pulled the lever on the top of the seatback to both
release the seat bottom and unlatch the seatback, allowing it to fold down.
Have I been doing it incorrectly?

Jon

Re: Seat bottom won't release
Boy, do I feel stupid. I have been doing it wrong all this time. It *is* the
pull strap that opens the seat bottom. It was tucked under the seat just
like you said.
Its amazing I was ever able to open the darn thing. :-)
Thanks for the help.
