Santa Fe 4wd indicator light
I traded my accent in for an 03 Santa Fe gls 4wd over the weekend. I
am very pleased with it but have two questions. The manual says
there is an indicator light for the 4wd at the bottom left of the
instrument cluster beside the cruise control light. It looks like 4
wheels connected with the driveshafts (kinda like a sideways "H" ).
Anyway here's the question... The manual says it should iluminate
during start up then go out just like some of the other lights do at
start up. Can any other Santa Fe owners tell me if this light comes
on at start up? Maybe I have a bulb out or something worse. And yes
it is 4wd because all of the driveshafts are there along with the 4wd
emblem on the tailgate.
Also there is another warning light to the left of the e-brake warning
light that looks like a can or jar full of fluid with two tubes coming
out of either side. The manual doesn't identify this symbol and I'm
just curious of what it refers to.

Re: Santa Fe 4wd indicator light
I don't recall the 4wd lamp participating in the bulb test routine. I'll
check if I can remember next time I pull in a Santa Fe. I'll also look to
see what this other lamp is you describe. Sometimes there are symbols and
places for lamps that don't really exist on the vehicle.

We have an '02 Santa Fe with 4wd. we see no light. I couldn't imagine why
there would be a light, since 4wd is engaged full time with ne way to
disable it.... short of mechanical work.

Re: Santa Fe 4wd indicator light
I looked at a 3.5L Santa Fe today and the 4wd lamp participated in the lamp
test. I did not see the other lamp to which you refer. The 3.5 has
electronic 4wd, but the 2.7 does not. Which engine do you have? This may
explain some things.
