Re: Turn off alarm without remote
Enter your car. The alarm will sound. Turn the key to the start position
and release to the on position. Wait thirty seconds. Then start the car.
The alarm will stop sounding after about 15-20 secs. Do not try to start
the car then as it will reset the 30 sec. timer.

Re: Turn off alarm without remote
Speaking of alarms .... any way to hook up the alarm so that it chirps or
blows the horn when it is armed with the key fob?

Re: Turn off alarm without remote
On my '04 if you hit lock several times, there will be a chirp.

This generic idea would work but requires some basic electronic
background and some hunting for the specific wires.
You could attach a normally closed relay [1] to a +12v source that is
only powered with the car in acc/on. Tap into the parking light wire
through the switching portion on the relay to a small siren [2].
Basically, when the car is off and the parking lights are on, the siren
sounds. When you enable the alarm, the siren will sound along with the
parking lights flashing, of course this siren would make noise anytime
the car is off and the parking lights are on too. Better then nothing I
guess as you normally do not have the parking lights on with the car
off. I'm sure you could find all the required wiring already in the
engine compartment somewhere and would not have to enter or go through
the firewall at all. I made something similar in a different car I had
before and only used a small 95db siren but it was enough to hear from
at least 20-30 ft away and was not too loud. As an added bonus, it
provided a method to let you know you forgot to turn off your parking
lights (the Elantra shuts off with the driver door automatically
though). Sorry for the lack of detail for those that do not know about
electronics. If someone wants to research some specific wires, I can
draw up a simple wiring diagram to explain it a little better.

This relay is rated for far more then you would ever need but they are
cheap, reliable, durable, mountable, and easy to connect wires too.
Other models of this relay are available at Walmart and such near the
fog light aisle but may not be a NC/NO style like this one is.

Radio Shack has similar ones.

Re: Turn off alarm without remote
If you splice the relay into the parking lamp output near the keyless
controller so that there are no splices between yours and the controller,
you can install a diode on the parking lamp side of the splice you made to
install the relay. This would allow the controller to activate the lights
and siren simultaneously but would prevent the parking lamps from
activating the siren. Of course, the 1 sec on, 1 sec off may leave a
little to be desired for siren output.
