Kenwood Head unit in 04 Elantra GT - hyundaitech?
To all you 04 GT owners with the Kenwood head unit, any problems? After
about 6 months, I noticed that occasionally when you push one of the pre-set
buttons the display will flash off for a second but the CD or radio still
plays. After about 13 months I noticed upon start-up that the display was a
completely different colour to the one I had programmed, so I took the face
off, put it back on again, and the proper colour came back. About a week
ago (13 1/2 months old) the display failed to light up at all and I can't
get it to come back.
I seem to recall there being reports of failures with this head unit, and I
have a suspicion that after 12 months the dealer is going to refer me to
Kenwood. Anyone have any stories to tell in this area? Hyundaitech, have
you seen a lot of these?
Thanks.

The dealer will replace it. Within the warranty period (3 years/36k miles)
the dealer is required to replace with a remanufactured unit.
As to failures, this unit seems to be more reliable than the Hyundai
radios.

Have you tried cleaning the connections between the removeable faceplate
and the chassis?
