The washer pump runs on our '99 Elantra when the button is pressed, but
nothing comes out of the nozzles. No signs of leaks anywhere. Always only
ran fluid (not water) in the tank so wonder what is going on. Thought I'd
see if the pump was bad, but before spending $30 for the part I would prefer
to try some other things first. Is there an on-line manual page that shows
how to GET to the pump/tank/lines to check them/replace them?

If the pump runs it could be the lines/nozzle is plugged...........I had to
use a hot pin to get the wax out of my nozzles, fine since then.

Pull the hose of the nozzle and see if water comes out of the hose.

If it does, then the nozzle is blocked.

Always keep winfscreen cleaning stuff in the water tank. This prevents the
algae growing.

Since its hard to get to clean it out, this is a REQUIREMENT.



My mother never used to worry in the Ford, but then we dented it ,crashed
it, covered it in salt water and drove it to 360,000km...

first off the pump is in the right wheel well behind a plastic inner well
cover and the pump is attached to the bottle.
in some cases a clear plastic cap seal from washer fluid can end up in the
resivoir and plug the exit, but also alot of times the pump can make noise
but not pump fluid.
out of experience, just change it. all you need is a screwdriver to undo the
right front underside cover below the bumper.once in there the pump can be
unplugged and twisted out of the tank... just remember you must have a
container to catch the washer fluid that is going to pour out down your arm

Turns out that the rubber grommet for the tank turned to a jelly-like
substance inside the tank and some of it oozed into the inlet of the pump.
Fortunately, the filter screen caught it and the pump SHOULD be OK... I
hope. Now to get a new grommet. Have to check the dealer Monday I guess.
