Factory Satellite Radio on new Entourage?????
Does anyone know if Hyundai offers XM or Sirius satellite radio
as a factory or port built in option on the new models?
I don't see it on the website, but I was thinking that it
may be an unlisted dealer installed option.
This would be on an 07 Entourage Limited, WITHOUT
any of the rear seat entertainment packages.
There are only two of us, and I need the sliding side doors and layout
of the van for handicap access.
Not yet ready to visit the dealership. Still fact finding.
Thanks in advance

Unless they've changed something over the last few weeks, no they don't
offer any satellite options. I did hear that it was coming, but I
suspect they would wait until MY 2008.
I should add that on my Entourage, with the DVD Entertainment system and
the Infinity radio, there are external inputs on the radio (NOT on the
front of the radio) that could be used for a direct input of an external
satellite tuner. However, the DVD system occupies that port. I don't
know if you can get the Infinity radio WITHOUT the DVD system, but it
may be worth a shot if that's what you want to do.
I did succesfully add a Sirius external tuner to our Entourage. It is
mounted low on the windshield, just above the dash. I ran the power and
antenna wires up through the dash by removing the radio and using the
existing "gap" in the seam around the radio. Not the most professional
install, but it looks good enough.
I should note that you will need an extension kit for the antenna
depending on where you install it on the van. I mounted our antenna on
the roof about 1' north of the hatchback door. Routing the antenna wire
was a piece of cake. I made a small notch with a file on the rough
steel under the hatchback door gasket near the roof. But when I was
done running the wire, I was about 8" short...DOH! So I picked up the
shortest exgtension kit I could find (25') and re-routed inside the van
using that. The only problem was that I now have 24'4" of extension
wire coiled up inside the left rear panel of the van. It was a small
PIA getting it in there and looking good, but it was worth the effort.
I should also mention that on my 2006 Sonata I went out and purchased a
new head unit for the car that has Sirius built into it. It was a
Kenwood unit and sounds slightly better than the factory radio. The
factory speakers are great though. But you will still have to run an
antenna no matter how you go with the tuner.
