Was: Elantra GT Fuel Injector Resisor
Hey Hyundaitech...I still don't have an answer for you on what this
part is exactly...I will get the manual as soon as my son is around.
Maybe you can help out with one more thing. I was doing the rest of
the tuneup on the 2003 Elantra GT...I ran into one problem. When I
went to change the PCV valve, I found it, I used a wrench to unscrew
it...but the whole thing came out. I could not seperate the threaded
part with the metal piece that goes into the air box (hope that makes
sense)...it came out very easily and obviously should not come out.
Even after I had it out I could not seperate the two pieces. Have you
ever seen this and what can I do? i did put the original back in (I
just put the whole thing back) for the time being.

I've seen this happen a few times. I think it actually happened to me
once
or twice.
The valve actually goes into the valve cover. The piece that came out is
an insert that is intended to stay in the valve cover. In every case
I've
seen, it's been possible to hold the insert with pliers or vise-grips and
then unscrew the PCV valve. Then, the insert can be lightly tapped back
into the valve cover and the new PCV valve installed (or the insert
installed on the new valve and the whole assembly pried back into place).
Don't worry about gouging it up a little bit as that'll help hold it in
place when you put it back. By the same token, if you grind a lot of the
metal away, it'll wind up being too small. For what it's worth, I've
never seen one leak after being reassembled this way.

Thanks. When I had the whole thing out...I could not seperate the pcv
from it no matter what I did. We used vice grips and two pairs of
plyers and it would not budge. We gouged it up pretty good. Is it
possible to buy this insert as a seperate piece from Hyundai?

No such luck. Only way to get it is to buy the valve cover. Not cheap.
