Elantra GLS 2003 cruise control question
I was driving along in the southern California rain today with the cruise control on and I began to wonder what would happen if I started hydroplaning. Would the cruise kick off if the wheels start spinning or does it have to be manually disengaged?

Re: Elantra GLS 2003 cruise control question
If you would read your owner's manual, you would read that you should
never use "cruise control" in any type of inclement weather (rain,
snow, or ice), because it can easily cause you to lose control of your
vehicle and/or make the loss of control of your vehicle significantly
worse worse than it would be without the "cruise control" engaged.
There is no mechanism to automatically shut "cruise control" off if
your vehicle starts to hydroplane or otherwise spin out of control.
This applies to any vehicle with "cruise control".

I appreciate the information, but I don't understand the
attitude. Is there a rule in this NG that people should
read the owners manual before posting any questions? Even
if I had read this first in the owners manual I might still
have asked here since I don't consider the manual "gospel".
I like to hear from real people, too.

Thanks for the information.
