Coupé/Tiburon/Tuscani Oil Changes (2002+ model)
Just spoken to a local garage (UK) who informs me that this car only needs
10,000 mile oil changes.
The first service is just an oil and filter change - and that's £140.00+ and
must be done by the garage to maintain warranty.
Does anyone else here think this is just a little outrageous? I was
expecting an oil change after 500 miles, then 3,000 miles after that.

In the US, the oil change interval is 7500 miles unless you drive the
car "hard" (which, according to Hyundai's description of "hard", is
everyone) and then it's 3250 miles.
My question is: what kind of oil are you using that costs £140.00+?
Oil changes here in the US only cost about $18 for standard oil and
around $35-40 for synthetic.

Re: Coupé/Tiburon/Tuscani Oil Changes (2002+ model)
Hyundai dealers in Montreal charge $24.95 + tx I believe, and we do our
changes every 6000km (i guess that's the 3250 miles Jason is talking about.
winter is hard on a car in Quebec.
Personally I change my oil ( 96 Accent GT) every 3 to 4000km or 1625 miles.
Still i find my oil dirty during the change. I can remember when i owned an
old 81 Tercel in which i treated with the same care and when it was time for
dumping it, the guys draining it would keep it for thier own.... it looked
like it was put in an hour ago and the engine had a total of 114,000km on it
at the time of it's sad crumpling death after driving mtl to calgary.
Motors are getting better performance, but the oil seems to get so dirty so
fast since injected cars came along.

No oil change is required BY THE DEALER to maintain the warranty. Read
the owners guide. It must meet certain requirements, but the dealer is
not one of them. It was nice of the dealer to give you synthetic oil
for free though.

Thanks for the replies.
It was nice of the dealer to put oil in the engine before giving me the car!
I dunno. This is rip-off Britain though...
I'm approaching 10,000 miles and it needs a service to maintain it's
warrenty at this level. The garage said they'll do an oil change then.... I
guess I'll just wait. Doesn't seem right though - I have a Ford Escort, and
I change the oil on that every 5,000 miles.
