How can I reset the check engine lamp on an ELANTRA 2000.
The light came on a on a cold day when tha car had problem to start.
Since then the car is running fine.

We saw your message when you posted it two minutes ago. Patience!

Here's a suggestion: take it to a Hyundai dealer. They can scan the
computer for codes to see if something is wrong and reset the light.
If something's wrong they can fix it. If still under warranty, the
repair will probably be free.

 

Disconnect the battery for about 30sec, reconnect and Light will go out .
If it comes back you have a problem a the dealer should look at it.

If you disconnect the battery, the computer memory that stores the trouble
codes and other important data for troubleshooting is wiped out.

Take it to a dealer and have them pull the codes. Something is WRONG and
is causing the light to stay on.

Those data are stored in the RAM, which should be constantly powered to retain
its content.
