brake drums
Hello I need to replace the rear bearings on my 1993 Elantra, I have jacked
the car up and it is on jack stands now . I can't seem to get the Drums off
to get to the bearings Are they just tight like that ?, or do I just loosen
the main nut that holds the drum and bearings in ?
also the main nut for the tightening procedure , is it a 1/4 turn after
finger tight, how do I know how much torque?
any help
thanks

Release the emergency brake. The drums will come off much easier.

Re: brake drums
You need to take off the main 30mm nut.
The official service procedure is to replace the nuts. I don't recall the
torque spec. offhand and the computer I'm using doesn't like webtech, but
you can try at www.hmaservice.com. Select "Service Information" and "Web
Tech." Enter the year and model of your vehicle and select "shop" for
shop manual. You should be able to get all the info you need there
(provided you're running Exploder and not using a Mac).

Re: brake drums
hello
thanks for advice up to this point
If the nut itself is self Locking, would it be a good idea to just get a new
one or just re-use the old one?
would you know the price of one, I guess i would have to purchase 2 one for
each wheel.
and as for the rear bearings themselves, I guess I should just replace the
inner and outer ones, and do they come with new racers or do I use the old
ones ?
thanks
