2004 Tiburon sound system
Hi all, I am new here but if anyone can help it would be greatly
appreciated.
I have a 2004 Tiburon. With the Infinity system 360-watt (6 speakers and
subwoffer). My problem is that the sub does not have enough snot.I would
like to install the subs and amp from my old car (rockford amp & 2 12-inch
polk skull crushers). My question is where can I pull my signel from? A
friend told me I could pull straight from the sub connector and run it
straight to the line in on my amp. This does not sound right to me as the
sub is amped by the 360 amp it would be throwing 360 watt into my amp and
this can't be good. I do not want to change the head unit as I have only had
the car 3 months and don't want to tear the dash apart yet. So the question
remains where can I pull my signel from as I am most likely going to have to
pull it before the amp. Is the amp part of the head unit? If not does anyone
know where the amp is located? Is the sub the only speaker amped?
Thanks
Gregg

Re: 2004 Tiburon sound system
The amp is located beside the LR passenger behind the paneling. If you are
worried about tearing the dash apart, wait until you try to get to it!
lol The Head Unit replacement is a 5 minute job, whereas getting to the
amp/rear speakers, you have to disassemble the whole rear of the car. And
yes, in order to use the Rockford, you have to bypass the amp. The amp
controls all the speakers in the car, not just the sub. If I were you, I
would buy a decent aftermarket HU and replace it and the sub. Wire your amp
up to the new HU and to the sub, and use the factory speakers (for now).
Wiring the amp up isn't hard either, especially after ripping out the rear
end. :-)
But here, instead of me typing all of this, go here:
http://www.NewTiburon.com and search to your heart's content. This is the
DEFINITIVE site about our cars. Good luck, and have fun! You will love
that place.

The sub is reverse wired, causing the bass to suck the sub in instead of
pushing out, which is the cause of most of what you feel is lacking.
You can "fix" the wiring by following these instructions:
http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44
You should notice improved bass response afterwards. You could also put
a 10 inch sub in the stock enclosure of you wanted, which a little
modification.

Thanks for the info on the speaker being reversed. I suspected this but
was too lazy to look into the speaker to see which way it was hitting(in or
out) Thanks again...Greg

Re: 2004 Tiburon sound system
Thanks for the info on where the amp is. Not really worth me tearing out my
interior to get to. I think I am gonna try the wire switch on the sub plug
first and if this dosen't sound any better looks like I am pulling the HU.
Thanks again for the info and the site.....Greg
