2004 Santa Fe...cannot decide...
Hi there, looking at purchasing the above...torn between the GL 2.7L V6 FWD
and the GLS 2.7L V6 AWD...currently driving a Mustang with ABS and Traction
Control and losing the features is tough...albeit the Mustang is RWD....GLS
has ABS and AWD makes up for the traction control...quesiton is...
Does anybody notice fuel consumption difference between the two models above
as well? Hearing a bad rap that Santa Fe is a gas guzzler....if comparable
or better than my 2000 Stang I will be happy...
thanks

Re: 2004 Santa Fe...cannot decide...
Well Bob, at first I thought it was a gas guzzler but then I compared it to
the Jeep I used to drive and found it was easier on gas, mind you the Santa
Fe is my girlfriends car mine is a Golf TDI so yes I find it hard on fuel
but no harder than most other SUV out there.
I did a bit of comparing and from what I could find the 2000 Mustang auto
got 11.9 per 100km city / and 7.9 per 100 km highway.
The Santa Fe GL 2 wd gets 11.7 per 100km city / and 8.1 per 100 km highway
so if your driving in town the Hyundai is slightly better but on the highway
the mustang is better.
The Santa Fe GLS 2.7L however gets 11.6 per 100km city / and 8.3 per 100 km
highway.
So if you go by numbers only your 'stang is better on gas but the difference
is marginal, but the Santa Fe will give you more trunk space and will be a
better winter driver without a doubt, in my opinion.
We are happy with ours and it does everything we would like of it. Good
luck.
