2002 XG350, now with automatic door locks
My XG350 has started locking all the doors by itself when you close the
front passenger door. It has happened twice in the last month, probably a
total of only 10 open/closings of the passenger door. The first time I
thought it must have been something else, but the second time convinced me.
I'm guessing its a short in the passenger door, and I'll take it in under
warranty, but I wanted to run it by the news group first to see if anyone
else has ever heard of or experienced this problem...especially since its an
intermittent thing, and you all know how hard it can be to get intermittent
problems fixed even if (especially if?) it's under warranty .
Thanks

I had a similar problem with my former Sonata, it happened more often in
summer with hight temperatures, probably caused by a contact activating when
slamming the door. Never tried to fix it, but I remebered to keep keys with
me, because it is quite woese if it happens when you go out the car leaving
them inside

Re: 2002 XG350, now with automatic door locks
I recently had a car in service for this condition and I couldn't make it
happen consistently enough to diagnose. I wound up ordering a door lock
actuator/latch assembly as a guess. The car has yet to return for the
part replacement. Please keep me posted if something fixes the car. I'll
do likewise.

It happened once to my '99 FX Coupe locking the keys inside...when it was

Re: 2002 XG350, now with automatic door locks
This car returned to the shop today. I found out that the latch does not
come with the actuator. The customer added three new complaints having
basically to do with the door not fully unlocking and caused by binking of
the latch. So I installed the latch with the hopes that it cures the
auto-lock "misfeature." But the service advisor insists I replace the
actuator as well before he releases the car. I don't really understand
the reasoning as the door latch may well have cured all the problems. Now
if it doesn't come back, I won't know whether the door latch or actuator
fixed the problem. Very irritating. Dan, if you wish, you can give my
e-mail address to your Hyundai dealer in the event they'd like to discuss
with me what I found on this car.

Thanks for your help...In line whit what you just said, I have noticed that
the car does not lock "right" all the time. Sometimes I'll hit lock on the
remote and the lights won't flash and I'll have to hit unlock and lock again
to get it to work. I'm paying close attention because a couple times I've
come out of work to find my
car not locked when I ALWAYS lock it by hitting the lock button on the
remote.
A side note: the other day I came out of work, hit the unlock button, heard
the locks unlock, saw the lights flash, and then opened the door and the
alarm went off - 1st and only time thats happenned.

Re: 2002 XG350, now with automatic door locks
Apparently the advisor lied to me. Later in the day I witnessed him asked
about this car and he responded he hadn't received any info yet.
Suddenly, he decides it's okay to release the car. Hopefully, the
customer will stay away long enough for me to determine whether the latch
solved the problem prior to replacing the actuator we ordered.

I never lock/unlock manually so I wouldn't know, I'll keep it in mind
though.
