2000 Accent Trailer Hitch question
Looking for some input in regards to the trailer hitch for the 2000 Accent.
the hitch is made by Drawtite ( # 24695). Drawtite says that this hitch is a
CLASS1 with tongue weight of 200lbs and Gross Trailer Weight of 2000lbs yet
Hyundai says that it is classified as an accessory hitch and good only for
bike racks etc and not for towing.
My question is... is the Accent able to tow a small trailer if the specs of
the hitch are not exceeded?
Any and all info on this is greatly appreciated.

Towing a real trailer with an Accent? Maybe if you did the Beta
engine swap and rebuilt the rear suspension.
Having said that, you *can* put a hitch on an Accent and haul around
a trailer, but you'll be slow as hell and you'll wear out the engine,
suspension, and brakes in a year or three. Buy an old beater truck and
put the hitch on that instead.

the handbook for my 2001 says that it can tow 400kg unbraked and 700kg
with trailer brakes.
your towbar sounds very close to the specs of mine and should be fine
for towing, although it wouldn't be a good idea to have more than half
that weight on the tongue.
