Hey guys,

I was wondering if someone could help me with my minor annoying problem. I
got a new radio, 4 new speakers and an amp installed in my 92 accord EX.
Problem is you hear a whirling sound from the speakers. It's pitch increases
with the revs from the engine. Could this be a bad ground somewhere? What
could be a solution that I could do myself? I'm trying to avoid spending
money....

the noise problem is covered by the warranty givin to you
by the place that installed it.

Its a free fix, just go back.

Nine times out of ten it is a ground issue. While it is sometimes
"maskable" with a ground loop isolator, best to have the system properly
grounded.

It's a problem with the ground & altinator, actually. Your amp runs from
your battery and amplifies the charge going to the speakers. The altinator
charges the battery, and charges harder as the revs increase, thus there is
a tiny variation in the amount of power going to the amp - the amp amplifies
this and a greater variation of power runs to the speakers, thus creating
the whirling sound. Fix your ground, and contact an auto-electrician to buy
an altinator noise supressor. Also, the noise will be louder if your power
and RCA cables run down the same side of the car.
