rust problems - treatment?
I've recently discovered, having my car (civic) on jackstands to change
break pads, that a lot of the underbody components have serious rust
problems. I live in Canada, so this is to be expected I guess.
It's most pronounced in the area of the exhaust manifold, it's litereally
rusting and breaking apart.
Is there anything I can do to stop/inhibit rust growth, aside from just
cleaning what I can with a wire brush? I am talking about parts that were
not originally painted, metallic surfaces.

Undercoating may help some parts, but that weekly wash really is the best
PM. Don't you have those "touchless" washes that have the undercarriage
spray?

Re: rust problems - treatment?
If you undercoat a dirty under carriage, you are trapping dirt under the
undercoat, causeing a bigger problem.How old is this car?
At this point all you can do is a search for a rust inhibitor, that can be
sprayed on after the undercarriage has been cleaned and wash the salt off as
much as possible in the winter.
