A few off the top of my head:
1) Choke not coming off completely
2) Float level too high
3) Partially sunk float
4) Throttle stop screw loose or incorrectly set
5) Throttle binding
6) Throttle cable too tight
7) Idle speed screw loose or incorrectly set
8) Idle mixture incorrectly set
You made certain you had no air leaks when you installed it?

I found this list in my Hayes Repair Manual under
Engine idles erratically:
Vacuum leakage
Defective EGR valve
air filter clogged
fuel pump not delivering sufficent fuel
fuel pulsation damper faulty
leaking head gasket
Timing belt and or pulley worn
camshaft lobes worn
