I don't know anything about a idle compensator. You might want to visit a
Honda Dealership and ask the chief service person about it and how much it
would cost to install it on your Honda. In the mean time--someone should
set the timing and any other needed adjustments. I would advice taking it
to a professional mechanic.

I don't know anything about a idle compensator. You might want to visit a
Honda Dealership and ask the chief service person about it and how much it
would cost to install it on your Honda. In the mean time--someone should
set the timing and any other needed adjustments. I would advice taking it

Thanks for the response.
The timing is dead on, and I adjusted the valves about 5k/mi ago...so
all is well in that area. The timing belt & water pump are due in
about 15k/mi.The next step is the local Honda mechanic unless someone
can point me in the right direction. Like I said, other than this
idle/throttle compensation issue, the car runs perfect.

Chris,
You might try this experiment.
Turn on the air conditioner and set the timing, etc. Run it for a day or
two. If the problem is solved--you won't have to worry about the idle
conpensator. On the other hand if the Honda runs poorly--set the timing,
etc. while the air conditioner is turned off.
