POLL: What wouild you do to hop up a 2004 Accord 6 spd?
Just bought my Accord coupe 6spd 240hp. I read somewhere that this
car has a few obscure features that gives it slightly more hp than the
auto/4-dr. Anyway, I was wondering what, based on your knowledge of
Honda V6's, what would be the first add-on to the car to increase
power without draining my wallet.
The Altimas have slightly better quarter mile performance, and I don't
want to be embarrassed by one next time at the strip.
Thanks.

Not trying to slag ya here bud... but why would you be worried about 1/4mile
times with an Accord?
You'll have to watch out more for the '05 hybrid Accords more than the
Altima's...

Racing in a Honda is like running in the special olympics... even if you win
youre still retarted!

So what, if you want a car that no one can beat get a Viper or
something (although they're crap). If you didn't want to get beat by
a Altima, you should have bought one of those.
Somebody will always have a faster car. Big deal.

George, I take offense in that remark. I am a keynote speaker of two
Special Olympics and a former Special Olympics athlete myself, over 23
years ago.
The coaches and athletes who participate actually inspire us all.
I challenge you to get up in front of 7,000 people and motivate them
for 20 minutes, and also volunteer countless hours to helping others
smile and feel good about themselves. There is no better feeling in
the world.

I don't advise you to make any major changes to your car or engine as long
as it is under warranty. All car companies including Honda don't really
like to be the ones to pay for major repairs to your car. For that reason,
they have a list of reasons to keep from repairing your car if it breaks
down. One of the reasons is a customer that has made various major changes
to the engine and related parts.
On the other hand, if you want to race your Honda and you choice to take
full responsibility for all repairs, I advise you to visit any bookstore
and order the following book:
"Honda and Acura Performance Handbook" by Mike Ancas
published by Motorbooks International www.motorbooks.com phone 1-800-826-6600
also visit www.accordperformance.com

I don't think the coupe has more horses. However it is 140 lbs
lighter and has a manual tranny so it out runs the 4 door.
As for quarter mile times....that depends on the driver when
cars are so close in specs. Car And Driver did give the Accord
a slight edge in those Q/T times.
Accord 14.5 sec @ 98 mph
Altima 14.8sec @ 96mph
The other thing is the Altima has torque steer BIG TIME!!
The thing tries to haul itself off the road when you stomp
the gas from a stand still.

Re: What wouild you do to hop up a 2004 Accord 6 spd?
Noyhing actually. Who cares? You people are a bunch of idiots. If you
want a race car, buy a race car. If you want a passenger car, buy a
passenger car. The bottom line is that to get any substantial, noticeable
increase in performance, it will cost you lots of dollars in the aftermarket
world. It's actually cheaper in most cases to buy factory horsepower (and
as somebody else mentioned - to maintain the warranty). 1/4 mile times
with Accords vs Altima's, who are you trying to kid???

Not true.Installing a cold air intake on a RSX-S gave 20 more HP and more
torque, according to Honda Tuning Mazazine's dyno tests.(two different
brands of CAI,both had comparable results)Less expensive short rams had
lower power gains.
When I installed a $60USD Bomz CAI on my Integra GSR,I got a VERY
noticeable power increase.
And it's not hard to make your own cold air intake, either.
And there's a long history of auto enthusiasts modifying their cars for
more power, better handling, better stopping, improving safety at the same
time.
It's just another hobby.
What in the world are you doing on this NG if you're not interested in such
things?

Yeeeeesss! Everyone can afford a race car !!!! (Sarcasm ON)
You are the idiot. Some people like get the best performance
out of their vehicles no matter what it is or how significant the
increase is. I think its great when people want to learn more about
their cars and not just use them as appliances.
You must have some interest in cars or you would not be reading
the posts. So don't bash people that have something in common
with you.

Well, duh! What kinda logic is that?
Maybe I can't afford a Viper and maybe the Altima comes only in a 4-dr
model which I despise. Maybe I like the way 240 hp can be squeezed out
of just 3.0L.
Well of course somebody will always have a faster car... if we
followed your reasoning there would be no Summit, no Jeggs

I can't afford a Viper at this point in my life either, but I wouldn't
buy one if I could. I also couldn't bring myself to buy a 4 door car,
that's why I bought an Accord 6 speed.
For the record, yes, 240HP out of 3.0L. The Nissan is 0.5L more, BUT,
has slightly more HP and more torque.

If we all followed my reasoning, I guess no one would need Summit or
Jeggs either. I think buying stuff from those magazines and modifying
old muscle cars is cool. Modifying a new car is just dumb unless it's
very subtle and doesn't void your warranty. I HATE it when punks put
spoilers, big exaust, or even light covers on their cars. However I'm
not saying this is what your doing.
