My daughter, attending college in Northfield, MN, had the oil changed 7700
miles and drove back to L.A. I noticed on the invoice the mechanic had 10-30
oil put in. I kinda freaked out and I'm afraid I was a little harsh on my
daughter.

I also noticed the front tires were worn bare on the outside edges, and
there was a visibly noticeable camber deviation when viewed from the front.
So the tires have to be replaced. So should I take it back to the dealer to
repair on the warranty, or does my daughter take the turns too fast? Also
should I replace the oil to 5-20 immediately or it's no big deal.

5-20 is not recommended for use in the summertime. Ambient outside heat can
really break down oil that low... 10-30 is the bare minimum... go to 15-50
if you're going on long distance trips in hot weather and will be driving 20
hours a day... 5-20 oil will burn in that kind of condition. In the winter
time, go back to 5-20 or even 0-30 if it gets that cold in MN. Make sure you
take your car to a warranty approved oil change centre, that way 1. you
don't void your warranty, 2. these guys know what they're doing.

Tire rotation needs to be done very 7,000miles. Check the inflation of the
tires and make sure they're not under/overinflated. Underinflation causes
the side of the tire surface to wear down while overinflation causes the
middle section to wear down. But at less than 10k miles, their shouldn't be
much wear at all. What tires are on that car? What's the treadwear rating? I
just bought new tires today, so happy. ^_^
