Nothing the dealer is really needed for. The ignition switch can be removed
and replaced easily enough, and they are available aftermarket, but the
price is pretty high. If you can convince a mechanic to try to repair the
existing switch, you can probably reduce the cost of repair. Few mechanics
want to stick their necks out that much, though. If you are willing to do it
as a DIY, it isn't bad.

If you have mechanical experience you could repair it yourself. If not,
you should go to local mechanic that you trust. Fixing a broken ignition
is difficult if you have done this kind of work on a prior occassion. In
addition, the problem cold be something else such as a bad solenoid.
