Hi. In my 2000 civic the widshield washer warning light remained on
even after I filled the tank Is there a way to trip it off? Also,
the check engine light stays on & I'm told it's an oxygen sensor
issue. Does that make any sense?

Don't ignore CEL. Read the OBD II error code ASAP to see what's wrong.

If that's what the code says, sure... Have you had the code read?
What was the code that was output by the car? Without it, it is
unlikely that anyone here can answer your question accurately...

I have heard this before. For some reason, many people who don't know much
about cars think that the MIL is just a bad O2 sensor light.

If your Civic uses the same sort of system as the RSX, then the float is
stuck in the level monitor inside the reservoir.

Try using a piece of broomstick or other non-marring tool to sharply (but
not too sharply; it's only plastic) rap the reservoir as low down as you
can. This may help free up the float. If not, you need to remove the
plastic inner fender liner so as to be able to get at the fluid level
float, which is at the bottom of the reservoir. If you want to just shut
the light off and not bother with the monitoring system at all, just unplug
the electrical connector at the float.

Nope. It would only make sense if the alphanumeric code behind the light
said that the oxygen sensor was at fault. Get PartSource to read the code
for you for free. you DO NOT want the text description from PartSource, you
want the CODE (e.g.: P0457)

The most common cause of MIL illuminations these days is the gas cap.

it's not an "idiot light", it's a warning signal telling you there's a
problem that requires computer hook-up to read. and that you need to
deal with it right away!
