I will NEVER do that again!!
Okay, not Honda.
Wife's 07 Camry, take it in for "minor maint" (oil & filter, check
this & that). They say "need to change out PS fluid, about $85" We
also had a front end shudder under heavy braking. I figured (but did
not say) warped disk (FR only). Yup. Squeal under slow braking while
backing. TSB to replace fit kit. Front & rear brake jobs = $550.
Instead we bought the kit ($15) and took it to Just Brakes. Okay,
Tegger, this is where you may say ITYS!!
They advertise "$98.99 for all four wheels, pads and shoes, rotors and
drums machined". Bullshit!! They said "oh, you need new pistons up
front and your brake fluid needs to be replaced and the seals on your
rear pistons have been damaged" which came out to $330.
From now on, if I can't do it, it goes to the dealer.
(I've been wanting to buy a mill and lathe to start building my model
steam locomotive, if I had done it two years ago I could have beaten
these rip-offs, but would stil take it to the dealer today).
Angie's List member. Guess what I'm about to say.
I do take my Fit to Howdy Honda, they've always treated us well. I
guess Charles Maund will be getting the rest of our Toyota business.

How many miles?
.. They say "need to change out PS fluid, about $85"
This is a once every 5 years/60K miles kinda service.

I'd have checked for corrosion on the hub and lug nut torque first.

I typically get 80K miles from the brakes on my Toyota Sienna. Similar
to my Honda Accord.

Unless you're drivng the crap out of this car, you should consider
finding an independent mechanic.

Slightly surprisingly, I'm still on the original front rotors on my 97
Accord which has done 191k miles. The rears were changed for the first time
about six months ago. I have over the years altered my driving style to
reduce brake wear but it's still pretty impressive - they must have been
about 2" thick when they started I reckon!
