It's a good bet the problem is in the area where you were working. Maybe
there is a ground wire floating around now?

Check ALL your fuses. Both boxes of them. If you didn't disconnect the
battery's negative terminal prior to messing around, there's a good chance
you blew a fuse.
You DID check to see if your brake lights work, didn't you?
