Honda valve adjustment? '01 Accord
Is it worth having the valves adjusted at 15,000 miles? The car runs as
smooth as the day I drove off the lot. It seems to me like more could go
wrong by having them adjusted when it doesn't seem to need it?

Leave them alone till 100000 mi, then do the timing belt, water pump
and all the drive belts and a valve adj. bob

Depends. On the newer Hondas, the corporate idiots changed the maintenance
schedule to "adjust only if noisy, or at 100,000 miles" or something equally
as stupid. On the older ones it was at 15,000 miles. I've personally
adjusted the valves on many Hondas and have never seen one that was perfect
and needed no adjustment. I cannot say that 15,000 is the right number,
they may very well go to 30,000 or 40,000 or more. But I can say that if
you wait too long and are unlucky enough, you'll risk burning exhaust
valves. (and they won't start getting "noisier").
As for the risk of someone making something go wrong, just make sure that
you have the valves adjusted by someone who has done it before, or do it
yourself. If you have a single cam engine, they are very easy to check and
adjust.

If you hear valve noise, have them adjusted ASAP.

They check them at 30k on Preludes. Mine at 30k required no adjustment.
