Honda Civic CRX ESI Problems
Hi,
I recently brought a 1991 Honda Civic CRX ESI (not even 4 weeks a go).
It's a great little car and I do love it, the only thing is I seem to be
having a few issues with it and wondered if any one could help tell me
what might be the causes. Being a girl and not knowing a lot about cars
(yes typical stereo type I'm afraid) I don't want to go to a garage and
get ripped off so though if I could maybe get some advice as to what could
be the problems first it might help.
The first thing that went wrong with it was the cooling system, it would
overheat a lot. I've just had this fixed (got a new radiator which took 4
days to get sorted out!!). Another thing I've noticed is when braking it
tends to slide a little to the left..I'm guessing this could be because
the brake pad is more warn on this side of the car??
I've also noticed that when idle the car judders a little. The exhaust
also makes a kinda of popping sound when this is happening...Would this be
the start of a blown exhaust?? The car also seems to not accelerate as
well as it used to.
When turning also the car seems to make a kind of scraping noise from the
front wheels...This is mostly only when I do a full or almost full turn of
the wheel. It doesn't seem to effect the driving though.
Lastly and this one is my main concern I seem to have some thing weird
going on with the speedo. I get up to about 40mph and then the car starts
to jump between 40-60mph and kinda bunny hops a bit. This is only ever for
a max of about 30 seconds and its only done it a few times. when this
happens their is also a weird buzzing electric type of sound heard. None
of my car warning lights (like engine or oil etc) ever come on though.
Anyone got any ideas on that??
If anyone could give me a few tips before I take the car to the garage
that would be really helpful. I've only had it 4 weeks and it is still
under warranty but only on engine and gears, does anyone know if any of
these problems would be covered by it??
Many thanks in advance for any help.
